I am not sure of what era this is but my dad Beverage Moore always talked about how his mother Annie's dad John L Slone always rode a white horse.

John L Slone is my grat uncle. My father had his pcoket knife.
ReplyDeleteIt was handed down to me. It's a hawk bill with J L carved in the handle.
John L is my great-grandfather. One of the few things I have from my dad is also a pocket knife. Actually, my step-grandfather gave it to me just a couple years ago. It is nice to have a personal thing like that, I mean something that the person actually liked and used. I also have the funeral "guest" book for Otis Slone (John L was his father). Otis died before I was born, I wish I had gotten the chance to know him and John L.

ReplyDeleteSometimes don't you just wish they would have at least tried to write the names on the photos. It can be so dishearting, sometimes.
